A quick re-cap of season 2024

It’s been another great year for our club and I would like to thank the committee for their time and dedication to St Peters Football Club, as well as the hard work of our team officials, volunteers and players.

I would also like to acknowledge the support of our sponsors and would encourage everyone to support their various businesses as often as possible.

Our aim is to ensure that as many kids as possible can play footy in our East Bentleigh and Oakleigh south communities. This child-centric focus allows a safe space at our club where children can make friends, develop their footy skills, while improving their well-being both physically and mentally. As they develop these skills, they also have opportunities to develop with the support of the club through coaching and umpiring.

This season, we had 415 registered players as well as season permits for our merged teams. This was a 9% increase on total registrations compared to season 2023.

St Peters Football Club entered 20 teams in the SMJFL competition for season 2024. This included 10 mixed teams (although very few girls played in the mixed teams), 4 boys-only teams and 6 girls-only teams.

Our Under 15 boys’ teams once again merged with the Murrumbeena Football Club, allowing grading to occur and boys to play in divisions that suited their range of abilities. Our Under 18 girls team continued in their merge with Bentleigh Junior Football Club.

Of our 14 non-modified competitive teams, 10 played finals and 6 played grand finals, with 4 teams winning premierships.  Congratulations to our premiership teams: U12 Mixed DIV 5 Logan, U13 Mixed DIV 3 Richardson, U15 DIV 3 McKinstry and U16 DIV 5 D’Zilva.

We look forward to another exciting season in 2025!

Footy Fun at Coatesville Primary School!

A fantastic afternoon with the grade 4’s at Coatesville Primary school last Thursday, where some extra special guests joined us to talk all things footy!

Ex St Peters Football Club players George Wardlaw (North Melbourne), Eliza James (Collingwood) and Alana Porter (Collingwood) each talked through their football journey – right from modified rules to being drafted.

Lots of good discussions and questions and a great time had by all.

Thanks to Dan Mann, Steve James and Matt Baxter for organising the afternoon and to Coatesville for hosting us.

We look forward to seeing as many kids as possible at Centenary Park in Season 2024!  If you haven’t registered, click here to register today!

Wrapping up season 2023!

As we wrap up 2023, it’s been another great year at St Peters Football Club.

The 2023 season saw player numbers remain consistent and for those age groups in which our numbers were lower, we continued our partnerships with Bentleigh and Murrumbeena.

For the first time the club gave every player and training top, designed by a local Indigenous Artist.  The tops were showcased at a special Friday night double header, which also included a Welcome to Country.  A great night and crowd to cheer on the teams.

Out of our 18 teams , 6 made grand finals and 4 brought home the premiership flag

Congratulations to:
U18 Girls Reeves
U13 (mixed) Crawford
U12 (mixed) Ascott
U11 (mixed) Mann

As always, at the end of the season the senior team celebrates the end of their junior football journey at Presentation Night.  Along with their coaches, parents and the committee the players enjoyed a meal at the Sandbelt Hotel to celebrate.  Apart from the usual season awards, one player from the senior cohort is awarded the Beveridge Award for outstanding sportsmanship, commitment and service to the club.

This years winner was Mackenzie Griffin – well done!

The senior girls team also celebrated their season – premiership winning season at that!  This was a merge side with Bentleigh and both clubs celebrated together to finish off the season.  The Wardlaw Family Award is presented to a senior female player for her outstanding service, sportsmanship and commitment to the club.  This years winner was Sophie James.  Well done!

For the committee, the Eddie Griffin Award went to Sarah Logan & Narelle Warren – both deserving for their commitment to the club and going over and above in their roles on the committee.

Finally, this year we welcomed 3 more names to our life member list.  Congratulations to Caroline Jones, Julie Baxter & Cath Beveridge Knights.

Bring on season 2024!  Go Petes!
